As many of you guys know, West Mech teams recently competed in Provincials (check out our previous posts for more info!). Our organization, along with NEO Robotics and 210x Robotics, took five out of the six total spots for the World Championship in Dallas. We are grateful for the opportunity to represent Alberta on the world stage, and we recognize that we would never have made it this far alone.

Right now, one obstacle continues to stand in our way – traveling fees, accommodation, and registration fees (1200 USD!) all make the journey to Worlds a financially stressful situation, especially since we are all middle school/high school students. We humbly ask for your support in funding the cost through our GoFundMe.

Your help would contribute to minimizing the following costs:

  • Tournament Registration

  • Travel

  • Lodging

  • Parts and Equipment

Thank you so much for your support!

March 04 - 05, 2022

Western Mechatronics was chosen to host the Alberta Provincial Championship this year. Over 40 teams competed with over 400 participants and spectators in attendance. This was the first in-person Alberta Championship since 2020.

This year, there were 6 spots to qualify for the Worlds Championship at Provincials. WestMech teams took 3/6 of those spots. Team 210Y won the tournament and received the Excellence Award, both of which qualify them for Worlds. Team 2088F received the Excellence Award for Middle School teams while team 2088Z qualified for Worlds through their Skills performance. Watch out for these teams at the Worlds Championship in May!

Huge thank you to the volunteers who kept the tournament running on schedule and congratulations to every team that attended!
